Almost everyone has a mobile phone these days. From primary school children to old age pensioners, it is rare to find someone who does not have at least a basic phone.
There are so many different deals on mobile phones and it can look quite daunting when you are trying to find the best deal. Sometimes the simplest deal is to get a phone on a contract. In this case, the phone is usually either free or sold at a highly discounted rate, and you have a contract, often for 2 years. You pay a fixed amount per month and this will include a fixed number of phone call minutes, a fixed number of texts and in some cases a certain amount of data usage. You need to be careful as if you go over your limits you could find yourself with a very high bill.
If you want to avoid potentially high monthly bills then you could consider pay as you go mobile phones. Here you usually pay more for the phone and then you buy credit to put onto the phone. When that credit is used up, you are no longer able to use the phone until you top up with more credit.
Pay as you go phones are useful if you do not have a fixed income, or for teenagers who are otherwise likely to run up huge bills, but if you need access to a phone all the time they may not be suitable.
