When you sit back and think about it, mobile phones really have not been around for that long. Back in the 80s they were pretty much non existent - any mobile at this time would have been the size of a breezeblock and reception was always a problem.
Then came the 90s which saw the size of the mobile reduce quite significantly, but the overall device was still very cumbersome in comparison with what we see today.
The 00s were the best period for the mobile phone. The devices became super-compact and a whole host of payment and contract options sprang-up through sites such as mobilechocies. You were able to either pay-as-you-go and top-up the mobile whenever you needed it, or pay on a monthly contract which always works out to be the best idea for people who use the phone a lot.
The biggest extra communication tool that was born through the mobile phone has to be the humble text. Nowadays, we would find it impossible to imagine a time when we could not send a quick and succinct text. It really is hard to believe that texts have only been around for a couple of short decades.
So, the life of the wee mobile phone has been very short really, but oh my goodness, could it have been any more successful?
