MARC GOLDMAN'S PIGEON POINT NDB/DGPS IMAGES:

These impressive images were kindly supplied by Marc Goldman, of Monterey, CA and show a number of shots taken at Pigeon Point, CA. These images show the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, which dates from around 1872, and shows some of the antenna systems, including the DGPS antenna, which is on the site. There is a small approx. 25 ft tower. that is a US weather bureau setup, this is near the buoy that is on display. Marc thinks that the NDB used to be nearby, but it is now across Highway 1, some several hundred feet away.

There are two short towers, each with two domes on them. Most likely they are the GPS high grade "choke feed" antennas.. fully redundant and than some. The white building is relatively new. The NDB main tower is on an insulator, and I think some of the guy wires are part of the antenna capacity hat, very electrically short. The DGPS beacon is on a frequency of 287 KHz, and it is located at 37 11.2 N 122 23.4 W. The original Marine NDB on this site used the callsign PI, and operated on 286 kHz.
